Default How safe is texmod right now?

I was finally thinking about installing texmod but with the recent account bans, I am not sure if I should install texmod. Has anyone been banned for using texmod? And should I install texmod?

~ Thanks in advance.

texmod isn't against the EULA or anything if you use the one on the wiki (i'm pretty sure). if you're not sure might as well leave it for the time being.

Texmod is perfectly safe. Gaile Grey stated that you can use it on your own risk. It just changes the look of the game, it doesn't change anything to the game itself. It's not like you're botting or anything. Everyone uses texmod, there is no problem, so go ahead, no worries^^

A lot of people seem to be saying "I got banned because I was using texmod" But I'm starting to think that their either not telling the truth or blaming it on texmod because they have nothing else to blame it on and they just don't remember that time they match manipulated or botted. Am I right?

Last I heard, textmod is legitimate with GW. There's still the issue I have with skill icons popping up in the background environment, though.

PANDA POWERRRRR D:

But like I said, there hasn't been any official confirmation that TexMod is ok to use. But it does not give players an advantages, if only makes players able to improve the visual effects that Anet lacked, according to the player. So there is no reason why they want to ban you for it. They have allowed it for years. So you are 99.99% safe to use it

Actually Gaile Grey said it was allowed quite a while back. It was on the wiki but I'm too lazy to find it

The only caution they offered was that if it does anything to your computer it's not their fault. Which is fair enough.

Thats just wires getting crossed with the texture ID's. It's always going to happen where GW and texmod are concerned.

Copied from the wiki page

"As a general rule of thumb, we don't mind if you do things like this to make your own playing experience more fun. Some people really like to mod, and we recognize that this can often be a valuable learning tool. When you're doing it, though, keep in mind that we ask that you don't use our content to mod other games. Please do not attempt to extract anything from your GW.dat with the intent to use it in a mod for another game or project. Also keep in mind that we can't support any changes you make."

I've used it with no harm done to anything.

The use of texmod will not get you banned, as stated by Emily and Regina during the in-game talk following the bans. However, they do not support it, will not vouch that the version you download isn't loaded with a virus, and so on. It's use at your own risk, but the risk is very minimal.

The links on the wiki are checked regularly to ensure the code is unchanged, so it is safe to use.

But I'm just wondering, how could you ruin the game using texmod?

You can't really.

Texmod doesn't actually effect the GW.dat itself. The only real way it could is if you downloaded a bad copy of texmod from some dodgy site. But that's a long shot.

You could screw up textures on a large scale, which would could potentially make the game quite ugly. Also, some people (not Anet; you won't get banned) consider using TexMod for cartography titles cheating, which would ruin the game for them.

texmod can be used to benefit pixel based bots.
